Are you worried about working from home and educating your children at the same time?

You're in the right place if:

  • You're being forced to work from home, balancing your job with home educating your children, without the support of grandparents, school or after school clubs
  • Your children aren't going to have the structure and routine they need to keep them healthy and maintain their learning
  • You don't know how to keep your children motivated to learn with nothing in particular to work towards and no lessons to turn up to with a teacher

I can help...

I'm a former teacher, academic coach, Cambridge graduate, author of The Ten Step Guide to Acing Every Exam You Can Ever Take and founder of The Extraordinaries Club, an online hub where I support parents and students through the exam years to help them reach their academic potential.

I'm also a mum, and in the same boat as you: running my business and having my 10 and 7 year old children at home to care for, educate and entertain. I feel your pain.

That's why I'm doing everything I can to support you and your children through this difficult time by changing the focus of The Extraordinaries Club to focus on children in years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 to make sure they don't have a major gap in their education because of the enforced school closures.

“All three of our daughters (Years 7, 9 and 11) have watched Lucy's online lessons, delivered by teachers and found them really useful - they have also given me an hour to catch up on some work! Lucy is extremely personable and has been a life-changer for us over the last few months and in particular now during our adaptation to the new normal.”

I was surprised how much I enjoyed the online focussed ‘work session’ this morning with the Extraordinaries Club. I had joined to pick up tips for my son who is still at school, but as a parent adjusting to working at home , it was great to have the quiet company of others for half an hour while focusing on my own work. Recommended for parents as well as students!

The Extraordinaries Club has helped us put a structured routine in place for our son so that he is doing revision every day. My son is now more organised and I don't have to push him into anything - he's so much more focused. In a recent report he had some excellent grades that really pleasantly surprised us.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who is this for?

This is for families with working parents and children in years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12. It's designed to make sure children continue with a quality education while their parents don't get stressed out trying to deliver it while they're working from home.

Primary school children are welcome to join too - if there is demand for online classes for primary age children I will put them on.

2. How do you access the calls and lessons?

Zoom video conferencing is used to access the accountability calls and lessons. You will be sent links for the lessons and calls after you've joined. Zoom is very simple to use - you just need a device that will play video which preferably has a webcam and microphone.

3. How will this compliment my child's learning set by their school?

Your child should be following the work set for them by their school as closely as possible. The daily accountability call is designed to give them something to get up for and a place to get started with their work, whatever that might be, as well as to think through and plan their day.

The lessons will be geared towards:

1. Teaching key aspects and skills from the curriculum so students don't fall behind.

2. Answering students questions about work set by school so that they don't get stuck on things they find difficult.

4. Can parents join in too?

Yes! Parents have been on the accountability calls to do their own work and they've found it really useful. But, if you have other things to do let your children come to the calls on their own so you can get things done. You can also come to the lessons, or not, as you are able to and wish to.

5. Do your teachers have DBS checks?

Yes, they do. The lessons are a safe space for your child to learn.
